1) Make a healthy breakfast w/leftovers:
- Cranberry sauce on oatmeal w/ walnuts
- Stuffing & kale omelette
- Sweet potato casserole & plain Greek yogurt parfait
2) Break a sweat. Try an online workout, jump rope, or go for a walk…anything to get your blood flowing.
3) Have a Thanksgiving salad. For lunch/dinner, put leftovers on a bed of spinach. Smart!
4) Hydrate. All the extra salt, sugar & alcohol are begging to be flushed from your body. Drink 72-100 ounces of water.
Have a happy & healthy Thanksgiving week!

Hi Dawn.I love quinoa but am always afraid to cook it since I do not know how to pre prepare it to remove phytic acid as well as saponins. How do you clean it?Is soaking advisable!

I use Ancient Harvest brand which is prewashed & doesn’t need rinsing! http://ancientharvest.com/product/white-grains-traditional/ The key to good quinoa is don’t be super aggressive when boiling it! Simmer, simmer, simmer on low!

I cook mine in a rice cooker with broth.

I love how you didn’t lecture on how to handle Thanksgiving! Love the proactive approach with the roasted veggie idea and the recovery plan. It’s so refreshing to not make you feel guilty while simply changing your approach in small ways.

Great ideas! All I ever do with leftovers is make sandwiches. … Will definitely try the sweet potato/ yogurt parfait. And never thought about cranberries on oatmeal — yum! Thank you!
