I’ve had many clients & friends wanting help to cut back on coffee. My answer to them is to try MATCHA.
I personally used MATCHA to help me cut back on coffee & love it so “matcha” as a PRE-WORKOUT energy drink. I still totally enjoy coffee, but just drink LESS.
MATCHA has caffeine, but 1 teaspoon only has about 70mg while coffee is around 100-150mg per 8 ounces. It also contains a compound called L-theanine that works to decrease the jitters & energy crash you often get w/ too much coffee. BONUS: Research suggests that MATCHA may reduce anxiety, boost mood, and improve memory, focus & alertness.
WHAT IS IT?
MATCHA is green tea leaves ground into a bright green powder. Research suggests it has WAY more healthy antioxidants than other types of green tea.
WHERE CAN YOU BUY IT?
MATCHA is sold in the tea & coffee aisle in grocery stores & on amazon like THIS &THIS & THIS.
HOW DO YOU USE IT?
MATCHA can be used in baking, stirred into oatmeal & yogurt, and blended into smoothies. But one of the easiest ways to enjoy it is…
1-Minute Matcha In a water bottle…
1. Add 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder.
2. Add 1 cup of water.
3. SHAKE.
4. Add 1 cup of your favorite unsweetened milk + 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract + ice.
5. SHAKE & GO!
Recipe inspired by THIS great video from the company Matcha LOVE.
PS: I was in NYC this past week and visited a matcha shop called Cha Cha Matcha and fell in love…with the vibe, the decor, and the matcha drinks. Check it out if you get a chance!
Thank you so MATCHA for reading the weekly WOW! I love you so MATCHA! xo

AB&J “Smoatmeal” Bowl
This post is sponsored by the Quaker Oats Company, but the thoughts & opinions are my own.
Smoothie + Oatmeal = SMOATMEAL!
Have you heard of SMOATMEAL?? When you add raw, cooked, or soaked oats to any smoothie recipe it’s called SMOATMEAL.
This AB&J SMOATMEAL BOWL is inspired by my obsession w/ Almond Butter & Jelly Sandwiches. It’s an almond butter & oat smoothie topped w/ berries to give it the fruity, jelly vibe. #Smoatmeal Obsessed
To make the recipe, I’m using the super versatile Quaker Oat Beverage. It has a super smooth texture and comes in 3 great tasting flavors: Vanilla, Original, and Original Unsweetened.
Each 8-ounce serving of Quaker Oat Beverage has .75 grams of a soluble fiber called beta-glucan from oat bran. Beta-glucan is a soluble dietary fiber and the primary active component of oats that may reduce cholesterol in the blood. Studies show 3 grams or more of soluble fiber daily from oat bran, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease.
In addition to being heart-healthy, an 8-ounce serving of Quaker Oat Beverage is an excellent source of calcium and vitamin D + a good source of fiber from oat bran and chicory root + 30-50 calories + a lactose-free option.
Ready, Set, SMOATMEAL…

Hello!
I like unsweetened green iced tea. So I am thinking this may be a good recipe for me to try. I enjoy dairy (cow’s milk). Will non-fat dairy milk work with this recipe? I noticed in the video they use almond milk. Also, I have read about coffee with a Tbsp of grass-fed butter for the nearly 6 years. (I first heard about it on the My Diet is Better Than Your Diet mini series.) I drink my coffee black. This morning (after buttering my son’s bagel) I dropped a Tbsp of grass fed butter into my coffee. It was tasty. Can you offer your opinion on its nutritional value/worth? Thank you in advance.

When it comes to dairy, I usually encourage clients to choose 2% grass-fed milk or yogurt (not no fat). Milk fat may have some health benefits. And your coffee question: Go w/ black coffee and save the grass-fed butter for seasoning vegetables. xx
