When you have a sugar craving, explore your sweet tooth with CURIOSITY. Because likely your craving is trying to tell you something important.
Ask yourself these 3 questions to find out what your craving is trying to say…
#1 RESTRICTION
Am I eating meals that seem “too healthy” and I feel like I need sweets because my meals are like diet jail & are boring me?
YES? HERE’S YOUR ACTION PLAN:
Add a feel-good INGREDIENT to each meal. Just one simple ingredient can make a boring meal more satisfying. Examples: A few sweet potato fries, crushed tortilla chips in a salad, a drizzle of creamy dressing, a dollop of guacamole, a sprinkle of granola. 😍
#2 HUNGER
Am I not eating on schedule, going too long without eating, not eating balanced meals (a little protein, a little carb, a lot of produce w/ a healthy fat topper), getting too hungry… and my body is craving sweets as fast energy?
YES? HERE’S YOUR ACTION PLAN:
Eat balanced meals, on schedule. Hungry people crave immediate relief, aka sugar. Don’t fall into the trap of cutting out grains & fruit… you need those natural sugars to prevent craving refined, processed sweets.
#3 EMOTION
Am I really just TENSE (stressed/overwhelmed/annoyed) or TIRED (bored/lonely/procrastinating) and need to do something for my actual emotions?
YES? HERE’S YOUR ACTION PLAN:
If you’re tense, sip some tea or make a to do list. If you’re tired, take 5 & close your eyes, change locations or go for a brisk walk outside.
After asking those 3 questions…
If it really is none of those things, it’s time to enjoy the darn sweets, like a BOSS.💥
Sweets BOSS = Eat a sweet that you really want, savor it, and really OWN it.
If you want that cupcake,
– Slow down & decide to eat it.
– Enjoy it mindfully (on a plate, while seated at a table).
– Don’t feel guilty about it. Celebrate because you were in charge. YOU WERE THE BOSS.
Enjoy it. Own it. Move on.
