You may have heard inflammation is bad…
And it’s true. Too much inflammation IS bad. Short term it’s associated with brain fog & fatigue, while long term it’s associated with diseases such as cancers, diabetes, heart disease, depression, etc.
So what can you do to decrease inflammation?
Diet & exercise are powerful tools, in fact THIS past WOW is an awesome review of 8 factors to help reduce inflammation.😍
In addition to healthy habits like diet & exercise, HOW WE FEEL also plays a major role in how much inflammation we have in our body. And that makes sense since our thoughts & feelings create chemicals that impact our body in good and bad ways.
POSITIVE FEELINGS & GOOD HEALTH
It’s no surprise that “feel good” feelings can lead to a healthier body and life. BUT… it’s not just forcing yourself to feel happy all day that works to decrease inflammation and improve health.
One study finds that it’s experiencing a *variety* of positive emotions that creates the most benefit…
STUDY DETAILS
In the study, published in the journal Emotion, people who experienced the widest range of positive emotions had the lowest levels of inflammation in their bodies.
175 adults kept a daily journal of their emotional experiences for a month by recording how often they experienced each of 32 different emotions:
✨ 16 positive (like being enthusiastic, inspired, and at ease)
✨ 16 negative (such as being scared, upset, jittery, and tired)
Scientists tested their blood samples for inflammatory biomarkers such as CRP. The results: People who reported a variety of positive emotions had the lowest levels of inflammation. 💥 💥
TAKEAWAY: Aim to create a variety of positive emotions in your life.
HOW TO: Track how many times you have each of the 16 positive emotions listed below👇 each day. At the end of a week or month check-in with yourself. Are you getting a nice mix? Or are you missing certain ones?
Keep the list handy and visible as a reminder to nurture all types of positive emotions in your life. Finding ways to FEEL GOOD isn’t just “nice,” it’s a powerful tool for better health! xx
