Can you use regular sugar in this recipe? Is so, is the amount the same?
DJ Blatner, RDN says
Yes, you can use whatever your favorite granulated sugar is, so regular sugar works. And it’s the same amount. ENJOY! xxDJB
Kathy Fitzsimmons says
I don’t have any almond flour in the house. Can I substitute white flour or gluten-free one for one flour?
DJ Blatner, RDN says
Hey Kathy! They are better with almond flour, I tested a variety of recipes. The next best option is using more oat flour, so take out the almond flour and use 1.5 cups oats (instead of the 1 cup). They are still quite good with this extra oat swap, but when you get almond flour, definitely try them as written. 😉
Joy Edge says
Would white beans work instead?
DJ Blatner, RDN says
I didn’t make them with white beans, but my educated guess is they will be GREAT!!!! Enjoy!

Oh, Dawn, you have another winner here!!! Your WGN radio fans in Chicago are going to love these. I just enjoyed my first one. So Moist! For those asking about sugar, I used a half a cup of Lakanto monk fruit Classic as I did in your black bean brownies. I also added 1/4 cup of chopped walnuts!! I’m on Weight Watchers and love to bake healthy treats. Without walnuts, these are only ONE POINT each for my WW peeps. Thank you again for making healthy choices fun and Delish!!
DJ Blatner, RDN says
Hey Lisa!! I’m so excited you tried the CHICKPEA BLONDIES! And thanks for sharing the info on making them with the Lakanto Monk Fruit granulated sweetener & WW points! And thanks for the high vibe note! xx DJB
Lisa says
I’m so glad you replied because I wanted to share that the hubby just tried his first one. To quote him – “those are EXCELLENT!”
DJ Blatner, RDN says
So fun! Glad you all are enjoying them! Exciting way to use a can of beans! xx
Charlotte Cantrell says
Hey DJ! Thank you so much for this recipe. Cant wait to make these. Crazy question, but just want to be sure, how should you store these after being made? In a container on the counter or in the fridge?
DJ Blatner, RDN says
Charlotte! Thank you for your high vibe message, I can feel sunshine from your note! For storage: Put in an airtight container for 3 days at room-temp, 7 days in fridge, or up to 3 months in freezer. We just froze a 1/2 batch! You can thaw those in the fridge overnight or pop them in them in the microwave. ENJOY! xx DJB
Velma says
What size baking pan did you use?
DJ Blatner, RDN says
8×8 brownie pan. xx
Natalie Mendez says
Can I use honey or maple syrup in place of the sugar?
DJ Blatner, RDN says
Hey Natalie! I’ve never made them with honey or maple syrup. If you try it let me know how it goes. Note: Swapping to honey or maple syrup is still considered “added sugar,” so the beauty of this recipe is that it uses a very small amount of sweetener. And of course the recipe has good for you ingredients like oats and beans instead of white flour or butter. xx
bonnie says
If I already have oat flour would I still use 1 cup or less? Can’t wait to try these!
DJ Blatner, RDN says
Hey Bonnie! You can use 1 loose cup of oat flour, like don’t pack it down. I know you’re gonna love these CHICKPEA BLONDIES!! xx DJB
