Are cravings sabotaging you? Read on…
A super simple craving solution could be at your fingertips…Tapping*.
*Tapping = using your index and middle fingers of the same hand to ‘tap’ your forehead. There’s a much more in-depth practice of “tapping” called “Emotional Freedom Technique,” but we are keeping it about simple forehead tapping here.
A study presented at The Obesity Society Annual Meeting in Boston, found that tapping your forehead for 30 seconds diminished food cravings for a small group of overweight individuals.
What? How could that be? Well…
– It may stimulate an acupressure region that reduces cortisol/stress hormone levels.
– It’s a distraction technique…if you concentrate on tapping you aren’t thinking about the craving.
– It’s a way to give yourself a brief “time-out” and let your emotional urges naturally calm down.
Bottom Line: When a food craving strikes, tap your forehead for 30 seconds. When the craving comes back, tap your forehead again for 30 seconds. Repeat 3x, 5x or as much as you need to kill the craving.
Think this is crazy? Well, don’t knock it until you try it. I love this idea since it can’t hurt you, and it may help.
