A recent study found people eat almost 1,000 CALORIES/week of FREE food @ work!
AND…those 1,000 calories are mostly empty calories & junk food found in common areas, meetings, and worksite social events. Yowser.
These empty calories during a work day can lead to weight gain, reduced energy, and impaired focus + productivity. Boo.

I have a rule called: No FREE Food.
And it’s magical!
EXAMPLE…
Scene: You see 🍪cookies🍪 in the office break room.
Old Way: Grab at least one, hurry to eat it, and then feel bad.
NO FREE FOOD WAY: You say to yourself, “I don’t eat free food” and get outta there! Then…
If you’re hungry…
Eat a smart snack you brought like a piece of fruit, nut butter packet, mini bag of popcorn, roasted garbanzo beans, olives, or pb&j trail mix.
BUT if you really want the cookie…
Leave the office, walk to a coffee shop, stand in line, and buy one. Then eat it there & enjoy it. No Free Food is NOT about deprivation…it’s about making a pro-active CHOICE rather than letting random FREE food just happen to you.
NOTE: There is an exception to the No FREE Food rule. You CAN enjoy FREE food in social, FUN situations. Think birthday cake at an office birthday party. Eat a small slice at the gathering, but never alone when the party is over.
PS: The No FREE Food Rule also works for situations like restaurant bread baskets & samples at the grocery store.
To those who work from home…
FREE food isn’t the issue.
HIGH ACCESS to food is.
Home Office Strategy: Harness proximity power. Stock smart choices & keep temptation out. Boom.
