As we enter another new year, of course there’s lots of talk about weight loss + counting calories (or points, or macros).
In today’s WOW, I am giving you 3 holistic, nourishing, joyful things you can do instead of “counting” or “tracking” to positively impact your weight, health, and quality of life.

In a recent study, two groups were placed on the same healthy diet. One group was told it was a weight loss diet & the other was told it would keep them at their current weight.
Even though everyone was eating the same diet, the group that thought they would lose weight lost 20 pounds in 8 weeks, while the other group only lost 5 pounds in that time. That’s incredible and proof that mindset. is. powerful.
2) FOOD QUALITY
Swap ultra-processed food to real, whole food to naturally eat less without forcing “portion control”…
Researchers found people ate an extra 500 calories a day on a processed food diet of things like sweetened yogurt, lunchmeat, and white bread compared to a less processed diet.
Eating less processed CRAP and more real, whole food works in two ways:
a) Cues. Real food creates better hunger-fullness cues so you’ll feel less hungry, get full faster, and naturally start eating less.
b) After-Burn. Real food burns 50% more calories to digest, so you’ll naturally get a metabolic boost.
3) MEALTIME VIBES
Chill vibes while eating may help you eat less & enjoy it more…
In one study, people who ate at restaurants with softer lighting and music naturally ate 175 less calories and enjoyed food more than people who ate at brightly lit, loud restaurants.
So get your zen on before eating…. dim those lights, take a deep breath, and play quiet, calming music like Spotify’s “Pop Goes Classical” station.
FINAL NOTE:
For your body to be its BEST, STRONGEST, MOST ENERGETIC… it also needs restful sleep + proper hydration + regular exercise + daily joys (to relieve stress, loneliness, boredom.) Don’t underestimate the *healing powers* of doing these holistic self-care things well.
