With the Fall/Winter weather in full swing, my cravings switched over to wanting more cozy, comfort foods.
What used to work as snacks in the summer…like berries & melon…aren’t feeling as satisfying. Sooooo…
Here are my NEW 6 cozy snacks with a focus on seasonal Fall/Winter produce & warming spices like ginger, cinnamon, and cardamom.
MY 6 FAVORITE COZY FALL/WINTER SNACKS…
Popcorn w/ Pumpkin Spice + Pumpkin Seeds
Pumpkin seeds contain immune boosting zinc… smart during cold & flu season.
HOW TO: Mist 3 cups air-popped popcorn w/ coconut oil, sprinkle on 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice and toss w/ 3 tablespoons pumpkin seeds.
Apple Slices + Cheddar Melt
An apple is 86% water … hydration is key for dry winter weather.
HOW TO: Slice 1 apple and melt on 1 ounce cheddar cheese.
Yogurt w/ Cardamom + Dried Figs
Yogurt contains fat burning CLA… which may help decrease holiday weight gain.
HOW TO: Stir 1/4 teaspoon cardamom into 5 ounces plain 2% yogurt and top w/ 3 chopped dried figs.
Beet Chips + Tahini Drizzle
Beets contain nitrates, which naturally boost energy… perfect before holiday shopping.
HOW TO: Drizzle 1 tablespoon tahini onto 1 ounce beet chips.
Pear Slices + Ginger Almond Butter
Ginger works to reduce aches & pains… try this snack post-workout.
HOW TO: Stir 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger into 1 tablespoon almond butter and spread onto 1 sliced pear.
Endive Leaves w/ Goat Cheese + Walnuts
Omega-3 fat in walnuts may bust stress… helpful for those end of year work deadlines.
HOW TO: Fill 6 endive leaves each with 1 teaspoon goat cheese and 1 walnut half.
Which one will you make first?

Thank you for these snack ideas. I am a vegetarian and live a healthy and active lifestyle with my husband and 12 year old son. I am always looking for new ideas to enhance our nutrition and activity. I have an issue with tolerating soy and often have trouble finding foods off the shelf that do not contain soy lechtin. I remembered your work on the My Diet is Better Than Your Diet and have read your contributions in Shape magazine. I got your book from the library and while I am still reading through it and garnering information, I was so happy to learn about Dave’s Killer Bread Sprouted Whole Grains. It was nice to have bread again. Also I purchased Kefir and look forward to trying it tomorrow with breakfast. Many thanks! ~Colleen
