It’s grilling season. Time to make the burgers! Here’s one of my favorites, THE FLEX BURGER…
What is a FLEX BURGER?
It’s short for “flexitarian” burger.
A flexitarian is someone who is a flexible-vegetarian, eating both meat + plants. So this burger is part beef + part plants (mushrooms).
Why add MUSHROOMS?
Mushrooms….
🍄Help decrease the amount of meat you’re eating (which is the foundation of the flexitarian diet)
🍄Improve texture & flavor (juicy!)
🍄Act as a prebiotic to boost gut health
🍄Add antioxidants like ergothioneine and glutathione for brain health
🍄Decrease inflammation for improved overall health
Pro-tip: Look for mushrooms with the label “grown in UV light” for extra immune boosting vitamin D.
