I’ve received a bunch of emails recently from people saying they want to lose weight, and asking if they should count calories.
No. I don’t love calorie goals or calorie tracking because it doesn’t reflect a balanced diet. People can eat the right calories, but the *quality* isn’t good for overall health, vitality, or wellness.
I *won* a national TV reality show helping my contestant lose the most weight & get the healthiest.
We won. And we didn’t count calories.
We focused on eating 3 enjoyable, balanced meals/day.
Instead of calorie counting…
I teach VISUAL WISDOM for “macro balance” which means: *Look* at each plate and aim for 25% protein + 25% quality carb + 50% produce w/ fat.
When you eat this way, it automatically ends up being a carb conscious, protein smart, and anti-inflammatory plan.
Plus I love that VISUAL WISDOM has very “positive nutrition vibes,” focusing on what you CAN eat instead of thinking about just how to eat less & cut calories.
Instead of portion control (yuck, I dislike that term)…
I teach APPETITE AWARENESS which means: Not just eating amounts you normally eat, but instead slow down, chew, taste, and listen to fullness. It’s surprising the smaller amounts you need to eat when you really get undistracted and pay attention.
VISUAL WISDOM + APPETITE AWARENESS work together to feed your body the right amount in the right ratios for the optimal health & happiness of your body cells.⚡️
FINAL NOTE:
And for your body to be its BEST, STRONGEST, MOST ENERGETIC… it also needs restful sleep + proper hydration + regular exercise + daily joys to relieve stress, loneliness, boredom, etc. Don’t underestimate the *healing powers* of doing these basic things well.
