Whoa. I just read a new study about HYDRATION and it has me EVEN MORE MOTIVATED to drink enough water. Let me tell you about it…
NEW HYDRATION STUDY
A new National Institutes of Health study published in eBioMedicine analysed data from more than 11,000 people over 25 years and found…
People who stay well-hydrated may be:
✨ metabolically *younger* than their actual age
✨ develop fewer chronic diseases such as heart failure, dementia, lung disease, stroke, diabetes, and high blood pressure
✨ live longer compared to people who aren’t staying well-hydrated
BOTTOM LINE: Younger! Healthier! Live Longer! Those are powerful benefits from just drinking enough water.
HOW CAN YOU TELL IF YOU’RE WELL-HYDRATED?
DO THE COLOR TEST. There’s one simple way to tell if you are well-hydrated, and that’s the color of your urine. Your urine should be light yellow, which is a high-five 🙌 from your body thanking you for drinking enough.
If you see dark yellow urine, it’s a signal your body is giving you to drink more water right away.
WHAT’S YOUR WATER PERSONALITY?
I’ve got a PRO-TIP for you to help you drink👏more👏water!👏
And it’s all about finding your… WATER PERSONALITY.
If you struggle to drink enough water, it’s likely you haven’t found your WATER PERSONALITY yet!
A WATER PERSONALITY is the specific way *YOU* like to drink water. And when you figure out your WATER PERSONALITY you will drink more water!
It can take some reflection, practice, and experiments to find your WATER PERSONALITY. So, here is my 4-QUESTION WATER PERSONALITY QUIZ to help you…
4-QUESTION WATER PERSONALITY QUIZ
1. LOCATION
Where are the best places to keep water so you remember to drink it? Remember, the more places you have water, the better! Since when you keep water close, visible, and easily accessible you are more likely to drink it.
For example, keep water on your desk if you are working, in drink holders in the car if you are driving around for errands, in sports bags for weekend or after-school activities, near the TV for sips between shows, and on a bedside table so it’s the first thing you do when you wake up (this is especially important since sleep is incredibly dehydrating.)
PS: Make sure to take water with you on-the-go. I know, I know, it can be a mad rush out the door and it’s easy to forget your water bottle. Keep a post-it note on the door with the essentials you need and make sure “water bottle” is on it.
2. CUP STYLE
What is your favorite cup/water bottle size & shape? Usually there’s one or two water bottles or cups you LOVE to drink out of even more than the others. Aim to make sure you always have those favorites near you or get multiples of them so you are likely to drink more water. Another style question here is, do you like a straw or no straw? There’s lots of reusable & paper straws available these days and it may just help you drink more.
3. TEMPERATURE
Do you like super cold icy water, room temp, or warm? Find your temp sweet spot and it will positively impact how much you drink.
4. FLAVOR
What flavors do you like? Flavoring water can often help you drink more so try “infused-water” with fresh fruit, veggies, herbs and interesting combos like lime-mint or strawberries-lemon. Or add a splash of 100% juice like grape or pomegranate (or freeze juice into ice cubes & drop them into water bottles.) Or make unsweetened herbal tea, like hibiscus or cinnamon, which tastes great hot or iced.
Now that you understand your WATER PERSONALITY, bottoms up & CHEERS to staying well-hydrated! 💦
