Today’s WOW is all about MEAT + PLANTS. Basically how to add more PLANT-BASED FOODS to your MEATY MEALS.
As a Flexitarian, I encourage clients to eat a *flexible* MIX OF BOTH ANIMAL + PLANT FOODS.
You don’t have to give up meat & other animal-based foods to be healthy. In fact, a recent research paper estimates that getting about HALF of your protein from animal-based sources helps you meet optimal protein & nutrient goals.
Animal-based foods: Red meat, chicken, turkey, fish, eggs, dairy.
Plant-based foods: Fruits, vegetables, whole grains (oats, quinoa, brown rice, etc.), beans, lentils, nuts, seeds.
The most important change you can make to your diet isn’t giving up meat & other animal-based foods, it’s ADDING MORE PLANT-BASED FOODS. And I love that goal since it’s a Positive Nutrition message of adding, instead of subtracting. [Read more about POSITIVE NUTRITION HERE.]

We enjoyed beef taco meat, shredded chicken, and turkey meatballs… all while really loading up on PLANTS like colorful produce, whole grains, and beans.
