Happy 2024!
Thank you for reading the weekly Nutrition WOW! I send this email to you every week in hopes of inspiring more health, fun, and joy in your life.
I’ve been studying JOY for over 10 years by hiring expensive coaches, conducting joy experiments in my own life, and reading lots of research. In fact, I’m even taking a JOY COURSE through an IVY LEAGUE school this month to continue my education on the topic.
To start 2024, I wanted to share with you the recipe I’ve learned for FINDING MORE JOY…
I call it Joy G.P.S. and similar to your car’s G.P.S. that helps you find where you are going, Joy G.P.S. can help you find more JOY!
Joy G.P.S. is an acronym that stands for…
G: gratitude
P: play
S: simplicity
The coolest part of this JOY acronym is that these 3 things… Gratitude + Play + Simplicity… are all SKILLS YOU CAN PRACTICE.
This is great news because no matter how joyful or UNjoyful you feel right now, if you practice these 3 SKILLS you can unlock more JOY in your life.
GRATITUDE!
Pro-tip: Practice “micro-gratitude,” meaning notice things you appreciate in all of your small daily moments instead of big general things to be thankful for. Micro-gratitude is the most effective way to keep your mindset in an abundant, high-vibe place.
PLAY!
Pro-tip: When you’re doing something you don’t really want to be doing or something boring & mundane… Ask yourself, “Is there any way I can add just 5% more funto this?” A little more fun goes a long way!
SIMPLICITY!
Pro-tip: Single-task! Prioritize your day’s to-do list* and then be truly present for each activity to create a sense of calm & clarity. You’ll naturally get more done, without feeling as overwhelmed and hectic.
*Extra credit: Instead of calling it a “to-do list,” call it a “get-to-do list” to infuse each task with more gratitude vibes. 😉
Wishing you a healthy, fun, and JOY-FILLED 2024!
xx DJB

Dawn, I love how you’ve taken your Joy is a Nutrient post from last spring and made it even more simple to incorporate! I too often forget that simplicity/stillness is an essential macro of Joy, and then I wonder why I’m feeling frazzled. Duh: complexity IS a joy thief!! Thank you for the GPS acronym– you’ve given me a fun way to remember to keep it simple!!

Hey Susan!! Love that you remember the Joy is a Nutrient post!! In fact, “Joy is a Nutrient” is posted in my office as a constant reminder! Joy G.P.S. has really been a great tool for me, too. Always asking myself how I can add Gratitude, Play, and Simplicity to my day!! Sending BIG Love, DJB
