5 Healthy Phone Apps I’m Loving
Here are 5 phone apps that are helping me stay healthy & happy these days…
1. “Sunrise Times”
WHAT: The exact times of sunrises & sunsets each day.
WHY: Getting exposure to sunlight (particularly in the morning) can improve alertness, cognitive function, productivity, and mood throughout the day. Plus knowing what time to look for sunrises/sunsets can help me slow down & enjoy the beauty of nature.
2. “New York Times Games”
WHAT: New daily brain games like crosswords, sudoku, and wordle.
WHY: I use this app each night to keep my brain sharp. Plus it helps me cut down on mindless evening activities like scrolling social media or watching TV.
3. “Insight Timer”
WHAT: Meditation app with thousands of options so you can find exactly what works for you.
WHY: I never thought I liked meditation until I found this app. I love to use it when I wake up or before big events to get my energy & mindset right. It’s also my go-to on nights when I need help to fall asleep.
4. “Random Reminders – Nudg”
WHAT: Add your favorite motivational quotes or uplifting mantras and they will randomly pop up on your phone throughout the day.
WHY: I added one reminder to the app… “Are You Having 🎉 Fun?” So when it pops up randomly throughout my day, it makes me stop and reflect on how I can add more joy to whatever task I’m doing.
5. “365 Gratitude”
WHAT: Lessons on gratitude, gratitude writing prompts, a gratitude journal, and positive affirmations.
WHY: This is hands down my favorite app right now. I use it every night to reflect on my day and list out 3 things I am grateful for. It’s training my brain to automatically be more optimistic & positive.
BONUS: “MealLogger”
WHAT: An easy-to-use photo food log to take pictures of all your meals, snacks, and treats.
WHY: I don’t like traditional calorie counting or macro-tracking apps because they can feel judgemental and diety. But this app can help you be more mindful of what you eat in an empowering way. I use this app with all of my clients.
HOW: Book a nutrition session with me HERE and I will review your food pictures with you in a non-judgmental, positive way. Doing this can help determine what’s working & where you can make some healthy swaps and nourishing tweaks.
