How to Get Healthy Without Going to Extremes…
Last week, I met a guy who needed my help. He knew what he was doing was not working, but he didn’t know what else to do.
Here’s how his story goes…
I get “motivated, fed-up, disgusted with myself” and decide to track every calorie I eat & start a fitness challenge with an intense workout plan. I do that for a while and see scale results.
THEN…
I get so darn burned out, that I quit it all and do absolutely nothing. I end up back at square one, until I feel motivated, fed-up, or disgusted again. And the cycle repeats. Never getting anywhere, but miserable.
This is such a common story. People think they have to “get serious and buckle down” to get healthy. That they have to be miserable to see results.
And actually, the opposite is true. To truly get healthy, you need to learn how to ADD JOY TO THE PROCESS. Joy is a success tool.
I’m an expert in creating a joyful relationship with food & fitness. By practicing just a few mindset & habit swaps, you can unlock more joy-filled health.
✨THE JOY OF NUTRITION✨
Below is a list of what’s making you miserable & what to do instead…
👎 Miserable: body comparison
🎉 Joy Swap: mind your own business
How To: Comparing your body to other people is a definite path to misery. Try this mantra: Their body their business, my body my business.
👎 Miserable: body judgment
🎉 Joy Swap: body gratitude
How To: Instead of looking for what’s wrong with your body, focus on how grateful you are to have a working body. Thank each body part for all it does for you. Read more HERE.
👎 Miserable: counting calories/tracking macros
🎉 Joy Swap: visual wisdom
How To: “Visual Wisdom” is looking at your plate before eating to make sure it’s in the right ratios. This is such a simple tool that can help you naturally enjoy balanced, calorie-conscious nutrition. Read more HERE.
👎 Miserable: using the scale
🎉 Joy Swap: habit tracking
How To: It’s important to track results to keep you engaged and motivated, it just doesn’t need to be the scale. Tracking habits is a positive way to measure progress. Read more HERE. If you want to use the scale as one measure of success, read THIS.
👎 Miserable: good & bad foods
🎉 Joy Swap: want-balance-own
How To: All eating decisions need to begin with one question: “What do I want?” Often people trying to “eat better,” choose foods they think they should be eating, instead of eating what they want. Start with what you want, balance it, and then eat it-enjoy it-move on. Own it, without guilt or shame. Read more HERE.
