Last week, I went on a sunny birthday BEACH vacation.🏝
My hubs Chris & I were having such a great time, we didn’t want to leave! So we talked about realistic ways we could bring some of the ✨MAGICAL VACAY VIBES✨ back with us.
Below are 3 HABITS we created on vacation that we are bringing into our REAL EVERYDAY LIFE. And you may want to borrow some or all of these to add even more joy, fun, and peace into your usual routine…
🏝 1. DAILY HAPPY HOUR
Yup. Every single day on vacation we went to Happy Hour. And the magic of Happy Hour isn’t the alcohol!
Happy Hour magic is all about the “transition.” It cues the body to transition from the energy of the day to the relaxation & enjoyment of the night.
This is going to be very useful for our REAL LIFE to cue us to close our computers & shift into being present to enjoy the rest of the night. Instead of just rushing from work into hectically making dinner and then flopping on the couch, Happy Hour will give us a chance to catch up & chillax. And it doesn’t even have to be an “hour,” even 15 minutes of Happy Hour will be a welcome new habit!
PS: I’ve always loved a Green Juice Happy Hour, read more about that HERE. But we’ll also be experimenting with some other mocktails and lower-alcohol drinks. Fun!
🏝 2. MORE MUSIC
On vacation, we played music while we got ready for the day, we played music at the beach, we listened to music during happy hour, and we had music on as we went to bed. Basically, we listened to high-vibe music non-stop!
Research suggests music can help boost your mood, motivation, and quality of life! But you don’t need research to tell you that, just turn on some high-vibe music and see how much better you feel! So we will be playing more music around the house, and we decided especially in the mornings with coffee to set the mood for the day.
PS: One of our favorite playlists right now is Spotify’s Tropical Upbeat Mix. 🎶
🏝 3. READING BEFORE BED
If you ask yourself the question, “Is there anything I do in excess?” My answer would be: Watching TV. So I was very mindful to do a TV detox while on vacation. And instead, I used that time to READ. I read a mix of both fiction and spiritual/motivational books.
We read on the beach, but we also both started reading before bed. And you guessed it… it’s a healthy habit that gets your body more ready & relaxed to slip into sleep than TV, scrolling social, or reading emails. This is a habit we are keeping!
🏝 BONUS VACAY HABIT: WATCH SUNRISES & SUNSETS
We watched sunrises & sunsets while on vacation and it was a good reminder of just how therapeutic it is.
Whether you watch the sunrise or the sunset, it’s a natural way to help set your body’s circadian rhythm to be energized in the morning and more relaxed at night.
One of my favorite & most used apps is “Sunrise Sunset Times” HERE. It lets me know when to run outside to watch the sun do its thing.☀️
